Mayoi Neko Overrun! EP05

Who is in it?
My beloved Tamura Yukari plays the scheming Kaho. No denying Yukari doing Ojou-sama voice is pretty hilarious. For whatever reason I'm constantly picturing Takamachi Nanoha being an Ojou and I can't help but crack a smile. I'm impressed with the VA though. She still sounds like Nanoha, but that Ojou voice is damn fine.

What happened?

Chise is pretty upset that her group of friends aren't able to spend time with her because of work. She comes up with a plan that the whole group can participate in but, all of them have work related duties.

Kaho proposes a plan that will "alleviate" Chise's friends of their jobs.

Kaho and Chise open a western desert shop right in front of Takumi's store. Chise's store does incredibly well and puts Takumi's store into the red.

A man comes in requesting if Otome will participate in the swimsuit competition. So, this part doesn't make much sense to me; Otome obviously looks banging hot in the swimsuit but, they decide not to because her boobs explode out of the bikini (or something?). Takumi requests that Nozomi enters and she does so happily. Fumino, some how deceived by Takumi's friends, enter as well and proudly declares she will be wearing a bikini.

Kaho enters Chise into the swimsuit competition where she is confronted by Fumino. Fumino desperately wants to know the reason behind Chise's actions. Both of them fail to understand each other.

However, Takumi manages to realize what is happening. He knows Kaho is behind it, but what really shocks him is how he didn't realize he was hurting Chise. Takumi was making Chise sad because he was neglecting her, and Chise really badly wanted to be friends with Takumi and his friends. Kaho agrees to leave and Chise helps aid Takumi's store in the competiton.

I don't think they ever say if they closed down Chise's store or what not, but they end up winning the competition and I imagine gained the publicity the store needed to stay in business.

Final Remarks:
Cute episode. This episode definitely had a theme of "listening to each other", and was pretty enjoyable. The animation for this series is pretty impressive, however I always feel like the studio is just barely off the mark for making the episode great. I can't explain it wel, but each episode has had the ingredients to become something amazing but it always falls short and I keep watching in hopes that the next episode will blow me away. So, here is to hoping! Come on EP06!
